When I first installed a PC, an assembled one, I did not have
much choice for the accessories that comes along. But fortunately I was aware
of the internet and started surfing the varied product range for myself. The
Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse is one among them which I purchased after
convinced myself about its worthiness. The one I had purchased is a Black in
colour and looks as cute as my little black cat.
Value in an optical mouse includes:
Optical technology, wheel scrolling and comfort of use
whether you use your right hand or your left. The mouse fits to a firm grip and
you can guide the cursor anywhere you want with an ease. Just keep the table or
mouse pad always clean. The dusts which may be deposited over the mouse pad or
the surface where you keep the mouse and thereby make it sticky to move which
will hinder the free flowing of your mouse to your wish. I have been
encountering this problem sometimes and have to clean the base of the mouse to
regain its versatility. The scroll wheel facilitates you to quickly scroll down
the pages of your Word-pad or excel whatever you may be referring at that
moment. Even while browsing the pages, it takes a flick of a second to get to
the desired location with the Basic Optical Mouse from Microsoft. The optical
technology which is introduced by Microsoft keeps the optical sensor precise
with no moving parts to wear out.
The product which I had purchased came in a box of red and
white with the picture of the mouse on the top of the face of the box. The box
which is used for the packaging of the mouse too looks nice and attractive. It
has a facility to hang it on the wall if you want to save your space at your
go-down or small store room. The top portion of the box is red and the information
about the mouse is written in white giving a great look of red and white. The
Bottom of the box is white and somewhat black to muddy coloured inscription is
used to write the name of the product. The original size of the mouse is
showcased at the face of the box. The box opens to the top and we can easily
take out its contents out of it by opening the shield affixed by the company.
The box contains the mouse along with its USB cord, a booklet containing
Microsoft Product Information and a leaflet stating how to start using the
mouse and how to take care of the mouse.
The mouse can be connected to your computer to any of the
USB port fitted to your computer and a restart thereafter so that your system
recognizes the device. The USB cord makes it easy to connect and then use thereafter
and you did not have to look for the pin like the ones with plug ins. Once the
system recognizes your mouse, you can go with it your way without any
difficulty. There are no stops while moving.
After using this mouse, I never have to look back for a break or a pause
in motion due to faulty mouse.
As per stated in the leaflet supplied by the Microsoft with the Microsoft Basic
Optical Mouse, the cleaning of the mouse can be done by using the following
steps:
1. Dampen a soft cloth with mild soap and then gently wipe
the optical lens clean, being careful not to scratch the lens surface.
2. Wipe the outer surfaces clean.
I am not following the guidelines to clean the mouse as
stated in the leaflet. Instead I am using a clean and soft cotton cloth to
clean my mouse without affecting the optical lens. I am scared of using water
so that I don't damage my mouse for my little knowledge.
The best thing about the Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse is
that, it comes under a Limited Warranty for a period of two years from the date
of purchase as documented in your money receipt or similar documents or other
purchase proof, provided you did not mishandled the product or exposed to
adversities. The price of the mouse varies with the model and facilities but
still it is quite cheap compared to the old fashioned mouse balls.
I am enjoying the change over from roller ball to optical
technology and the ease of operation of the Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse puts
me at odds when I am at my office desk. Because, the cursor sticks at times and
irritates me as i have to roll the cable all the sides to make the cursor move.
